Gelareh

I was born in the northern region of Iran by the Caspian Sea, which is known for its lush landscapes where the natural greens, blues, and the hues of sunset flow together vibrantly.  Growing up amongst this beautiful scenery greatly influenced me by the lines of nature, the harmony of the environment and the juxtaposition of the different materials that Mother Nature so beautifully balanced together.  This went hand in hand with my decision to study Architecture.

Along the way my passion grew for creating things by hand.  As with Architectural design, jewelry making gave birth to the ideas and sense of artistic fulfillment.

The foundation of Paisley Jewelry design and making entails focus on fine details of structure versus esthetic balance which has stemmed from my architecture training.

My pieces are inspired by my cultural background, the fine details in Persian tiles, rugs, and calligraphy which make my pieces unique.

Most of them are made out of 18K gold and silver, some with combination of old fabrics that have metallic accents and semi precious stones. All of my pieces are one of a kind and handmade. Most enchanting pieces include the paisley pattern which is said to be the symbol of respect. Legend has it that it is the sign of a Cyprus tree, bowing to the wind.

I have had numerous private exhibits locally in southern California as well as in Iran. I hope that my jewelry designs make you feel more beautiful and inspire conversations about multicultural harmonies we all share globally.

I was born in Rasht, Iran in 1970.  This Northern region of the country is close to the Caspian Sea, where greens, blues, and the hues of sunset flow together.  As a teenager, I was greatly influenced by the lines of nature, the harmony of the environment and the juxtaposition of the different materials that mother-nature so beautifully balanced together.  This went hand in hand with my decision to study and earn my degree in Architecture.  All along the way, my passion was the creation of something with my own two hands.  Like Architecture, jewelry making gave birth to my ideas and a sense of artistic fulfillment.
